Empowerment
Program

A key objective of empowerment program content is to challenge youth and the future generation to be independent thinkers who are well-cultured and possess communication skills.

In this program, Japanese students and non-Japanese university students from top-level overseas universities collaboratively participate in group discussion and projects on various topics.

ISA empowerment programs aim not only to make Japanese students recognize how important English is as a communication tool, but also to help students develop a new mindset through multicultural experience. The program encourages them to value personal responsibility in their choices and decision making and pushes attendees to cultivate leadership as the key to happiness and their contribution to global society.

I really enjoyed the program overall this year and last year; it was very rewarding seeing the students grow to become more confident and open, and some even more clear about their future goals and careers. It was great sharing my time with them and I felt that it was a very worthwhile experience for them as high-school students and for me, a great experience to see myself grow as a better educator. I have learned immensely through this program and I hope that I could return to continue contributing to global education. “ –Melbourne Leader

If I had the opportunity to participate in this program again, I would not hesitate to. I have personally learnt much about myself, improved many skills I did not realise I had and become a much more independent person. – Melbourne leader

The programme was one of the most successful programmes I participated in. Having worked in similar programmes in Brazil, Mexico, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, UAE and the UK, I found this programme to be one of the most efficient training programmes for high school students. The change we witnessed in only one week was incredible. Students became more confident, motivated and positive. They started to take initiatives, lead activities and communicate in English in front of an audience without fear or worries.

I got three things from this program. First of all is to think positively. From this time's struggling experience, I come to think more deeply why this happens to me. Second is to think differently. I can enjoy new things which I used to think was negative. Third is to enjoy English communication. If I could speak English, I can communicate with people other than Japanese and share different way of thinking and different culture which will widen my viewpoints.

I was reluctant to join the program as I was too shy to discuss in English. However, the program changed my old mindset dramatically and I really enjoyed communicating with non Japanese students from overseas. I found sharing ideas proactively is so much fun. I definitly come back to the program.
